A Message For President Bush

Thank you for the $600 rebate check. Really.

However, you can't buy my love or approval for a lousy $600. My first inclination is to donate this to the Obama campaign, but given how bad our economy is doing, I'm saving it. Sure, I need new clothes for work, but I was going to buy them anyway. I'm not picking up any books or cds that I wouldn't have gotten otherwise. The $600 is going to sit in the bank until needed.

While it's always nice to get $600 you weren't expecting, it doesn't begin to make up for the thousands of people, American soldiers and innocent civilians, killed in Iraq due to your war.

There are many scenes in The Sopranos, where, after gangsters beat someone close to death, they give him some money as a "make good." It's seems so familiar now...

So, thanks again. Really.

But it doesn't change how I feel about you or your administration.

Great post. Proves that a blog post doesn't have to be long in order to pack quite a punch.

Also cracked up the "label."

Okay, my original post was eaten, but basically, yeah, I agree with you, John. I took my money and paid down my credit card.*

*This was what I said in my original post, but there was cursing in the first one.

I had to keep it short, because the more I wrote, the angrier I became.

We are using ours to help pay bills, all of which have risen steeply due to the increase in gas prices. Oh, yeah, and I was able to get a full load of groceries without thinking "I need both of theses things but I can't afford them, so I'll get one thing this week and the other next week." Not easy when you have two teenage boys. So much for economic stimulus.

I haven't received mine yet...I get the feeling I won't get it till the last mailing, which I think is July 11th. No, Erin, that isn't "glass-half-empty," it's because they will be mailing it to me and the last 2 numbers of my SSN are high numbers.
Where's mine going? Pay down charge bills and then I want to get that trunk of Grandpa Mulhern's refinished.

Absolutely love the Sopranos analogy! Since I achieved Mission Accomplished status on my plan to be debt free by the end of 2007, part of mine is going straight into savings and the rest is going to Obama.

Laurel -
Yeah, debt-free is a forgotten virtue in this country. I paid off my credit cards in December 2006 and have not carried over any credit card debt since then. I'm not bragging, just mentioning.

My student loans, on the other hand...oy.

The more you wrote the angrier you'd get???
I can't imagine.

Didn't the Sopranos finale suck?

My $600 buy off has inspired me to save my money. Not gonna spend it... wouldn't be prudent...
