Catching Up

I have a piece in this show - it's the first time in a long time I've made anything. Best of all, I'm fairly happy with the results. The theme of the show was artists creating new posters for existing movies. Eventually I'll post my poster here online; for now you can see my interpretation of Terrence Malick's The Thin Red Line, along with other good work, at Maxwell's, 1039 Washington Street, Hoboken NJ.

Nice write up about the show here.

Other doings:

I've been posting semi-regularly on 7NOW!, random, subjective, opinionated, at time ornery lists of seven items. Since I don't usually detail my current faves on this blog, 7Now! is a good spot to see what I'm listening to, reading, watching, etc.

My friend Tammy is going to be working in Yemen for the next year, presumably checking toner cartridges before they're shipped overseas. She has been writing about the experiences here; given that this blog was born out of my overseas travel, you may find Tammy's experiences interesting.

Congrats on the poster, looking very much forward to your interpretation. Kind of reminds me of a book I have titled Extreme Canvas which is reinterpretations of movie posters by artists from Ghana, mostly Horror and Genre material. Also, thanks for the tip about 7NOW, good for a diversion now and again, and tell Erin (assuming you are related) it would be worth her time to see Boardwalk Empire, especially since it now seems it might be getting into Teapot Dome and the birth of the modern Mafia and could there be a connection????

Thanks, WP. There's only a few images from Extreme Canvas on amazon, but they look great: more old circus poster than movie poster.

Erin is my sister; I suspect waiting for Boardwalk Empire on dvd will be a family trait.

wpbooks-It is true that the only reason I have not seen Boardwalk Empire is because I don't have HBO, but like John said, I'm sure I'll check it out once it comes out on DVD. Thanks for the recommendation!
